Which color or age do you choose?
If you’re trying to make a decision when selecting a color or coat length for a dog or cat’s listing on Adopt-a-Pet.com, consider what are the top searched-for values — we’ve collected and compiled them for you from over 60 million searches by potential adopters! Of course be truthful, but what if a pet falls across two or more possible choices? If you are wondering what to choose, try choosing the value that gets searched for the most. Why? More people seeing pets they want to adopt means more pets getting more chances at finding a great home! See all the hard numbers and percentages at http://shelterblog.adoptapet.com/2016/06/colors-ages-coat-most-searched

Toolbar Tip: How to use Pet Contacts
Pet Contacts are a way you can change the contact info on individual pets, if you add pets directly on Adopt-a-Pet.com. (Pet Contacts will not work with AutoUploaded pets.) It can be used to change the email and/or phone to contact for any pet, like if you have a foster with a pet who you want prospective adopters to contact directly. Here’s how!
1. Go to http://www.adoptapet.com/shelter/pet-contacts
or select “Manage My Pet Contacts” from the Shelter/Rescue menu.
2. Click the “Create New Pet Contact” button. Fill in the fields and click Save.
3. You will now see a “Pet Contact” dropdown menu choice (right above the Story/Description box) when you add a new pet using an Add Pet form or edit a pet from your Pet List. You can choose to select a Pet Contact, and that contact’s name, and email and/or phone will appear only on that pet.
Pets will still show up in search results under that Pet Contact’s account zip code, and will still display the rest of your Shelter/Rescue information like city, state, zip, About Us, etc.
Psst… To list pets in different zip codes, use new account/locations. See how at https://adoptapetcom.zendesk.

Grant recipients will be announced soon!
We are excited! Very soon we will announce the recipients of Adopt-a-Pet.com’s Bayer Share for Shelters & Rescues grants of Advantage® II for cats and/or K9 Advantix® II for dogs only. These grants were made possible thanks to pet owners across the country who participated in Bayer’s Share for Shelters campaign. Through pet owners’ photo submissions, the campaign gave $20,000 worth of Bayer flea and tick products to help Adopt-a-Pet.com shelters and rescues. Up to 10 grants will be awarded.

And, of course… We thank the wonderful, pet-loving people at Purina, Bayer Animal Health, and the Petco Foundation for supporting all of us in our mission and making Adopt-a-Pet.com a free service!
