2015 Grant Recipient: Claws & Paws Animal Adoption Center

Posted by Jennifer on February 3rd, 2016

Adopt-a-Pet.com’s mission (and passion!) is to help homeless pets find loving homes. Thanks to our corporate sponsors and individual donors, one way we help animal shelters and rescues in their amazing pet-saving work is with grants for veterinary costs, so pets in their care can get the veterinary care they need to become healthy and adoptable – and then Adopt-a-Pet.com can help them find loving homes!

Congratulations to Claws & Paws Animal Adoption Center! they are a $500 grant recipient from the 2015 Adopt-a-Pet.com Veterinary Care Fund. We are so moved by the amazing lengths shelters and rescues go to give homeless pets a chance at getting healthy so they can be adopted. Below is their grant application detailing how this grant  will change the life of a pet or pets in their care.

Any amount of grant would help us get our dogs spayed or neutered before they leave the shelter. Right now we are not funded to get everyone fixed before they leave. We do give people 30 days or more depending on the animals age to get this done. Right now I have a huge stack of people who have not done this as per our contract, which means if they did not, I will have to go and seize their dog or cat for not doing as the contract has said. I personally don’t like taking someones animal away because of this. I understand money is tight or something came up but they all must follow the contract. If we can get them fixed before they leave then I don’t have to worry about if they will or will not get them fixed. This also helps eliminate stress to the owners if something comes up and they just cant afford it. Right now we have anywhere to 20 to 32 dogs and around 10 cats. Some of them are fixed and some are not. We have been lucky not to have any sick animals that need a vet care but who’s to say this all could change by tomorrow. Our focus is to get everyone fixed and ready to find their forever homes.

Attached are some of the wonderful animals we have here :) All these guys need to be fixed and many more. Also is included is just a small portion of our adoption pictures. They are all so happy and you can tell even the pets are just as happy <3

Adopt-a-Pet.com has helped us out in so many ways. Before the only way people saw our animals here was on our Facebook page. Your site has expanded us so much that we have have SEVERAL people from out of state drive hundreds of miles to come and pick up their best friend!!! I just love it and to tell people that they drove that far just melts my heart. I would drive around the world to get my best friend and it is great to know that I am not the only one who feels this ways. Not many people can say they would do this, PEOPLE ARE AMAZING and these dogs and cats deserve some amazing people in their lives!

I know this is short and sweet but even if we don’t get the grant, I really appreciate you taking the time and reading this.
