New Feature: Select from multiple contacts when posting pets
If you want to list different contact information for some of your pets (for example, if each foster parent in your organization is responsible for fielding inquiries about the pets in their care), you can now add “Pet Contacts” to use for any of the pets you list for adoption! Then when you’re adding a new adoptable pet, you’ll be able to select the proper contact for that pet. Just select “Manage My Pet Contacts” from the “Shelter/Rescue” menu in your Admin area, then “Create New Pet Contact” to get started! Here’s a direct link to the Pet Contacts page:
We’re always working to make Adopt-a-Pet.com the best it can be to help you find your pets homes. If you have a feature you’d like us to add, or any part of the website you’d like changed, we’d love to hear from you! Please send your comments in an email to email@example.com.
Help us by taking a short shelter survey?
Adopt-a-Pet.com would like your opinions about flea/tick treatments. We have prepared a very short, anonymous survey that should take about 3 minutes to complete. Can you take a moment to tell us your thoughts?
You can access the survey here: www.surveymonkey.com/s/9P2P7F9
Nominate your shelter for a $10,000 grant from Purina ONE® beyOnd®
The Shine a Light on a Shelter Challenge by GOOD and Purina ONE® beyOnd® is currently accepting submissions! Submit your US-based shelter here: http://purina.maker.good.is/ by describing “a story of how your shelter makes the world a better place, and why that shelter should receive $10,000 to expand their good work.” Nominations are open between June 28 and July 30 (noon Pacific Time). From July 30 to August 6 (noon Pacific Time), a panel of judges will select the top 40 submissions. From August 6 to August 20 they’ll open it up to public voting. Rally your colleagues and friends to get behind your effort and join the GOOD community in selecting the winner.
Shelter Exchange Software Now Supports up to Four Photos
A couple of months ago we told you about Shelter Exchange, the newest shelter management software to autoupload to Adopt-a-Pet.com. They recently let us know that they now have the ability to upload up to four photos to Adopt-a-Pet.com. What a great new feature!! As we mentioned in our March newsletter, the Shelter Exchange software application is a web-based tool offered for free to U.S. shelters and rescues. Shelters list animals in their care that they would like rescued by rescue organizations. Find out more at www.shelterexchange.org

There are still 18 more $1,000 grants to be awarded, one each week for the next 18 weeks! If you sent in a grant submission last year, it is still valid, so you do not need to send in a duplicate submission again. If did not apply last year, you can apply here:

Need Food Donations? Purina Pets For People May Be Able To Help!
Purina’s support of animal welfare takes the form of Animal Welfare Support programs for non-profit organizations, described in detail on www.PetsforPeople.com. Their programs such as Pets for Seniors, Pro Plan® Rally to Rescue® and the Purina ONE® PetWelfare Program are dedicated to providing support for local animal welfare organizations in their efforts to find homes for adoptable animals.
Occasionally the Nestlé Purina PetCare Company may have food donations available in your area. When you register your organization on www.PetsforPeople.com you will be automatically considered for any food donations that become available near you. During 2010, Purina donated more than $13 million in pet food and litter. In addition, should your organization be affected by a natural disaster, Purina may be able to provide food to help feed your organization’s animals during your time of need.
And, of course… As always, we thank the wonderful, pet-loving people at Purina and Bayer Animal Health for supporting all of us in our mission and making Adopt-a-Pet.com a free service!
That’s all our news for this month. We’d love to hear what’s going on with you too, so please stop by our pages on Facebook and Twitter and say a virtual hello!
