Thank you for voting!
Hundreds of you answered our call to action and voted in the Adopt-a-Pet.com future features for shelters survey, thank you! We’ve tallied the results and have created our new-feature to-do list that we’ll be working on in the months to come. One of our main goals is to make your work helping homeless pets easier through the tools and features on our website, and your comments and suggestions are so important to us. Please feel free to email jennifer@adoptapet.com with your ideas at any time! Keep your eyes on this space as we announce the new features as they launch.

Enter to win a $100 GIFT CARD by posting your pets!
Congratulations to Lily’s Legacy Senior Dog Sanctuary, last month’s winner of a $100 gift card for posting their pets!

Just a reminder that, to express our gratitude for everything you do to help animals, we’re giving away a $100 Visa Gift Card to one shelter or rescue group each month for the time being… and all you have to do to be eligible is post at least one pet within 30 days of each drawing. We’ll be drawing the next name from the proverbial hat on April 1st – this is no April fools! Just upload a pet between March 1st and April 1st, and you’re automatically entered. To add your pets today click “Add Pet” above or auto-upload via your software.

New Auto-Uploading software: Shelter Exchange
Adopt-a-Pet.com is now accepting Auto-Uploading of adoptable pets from Shelter Exchange! The Shelter Exchange software application is a web-based tool offered for free to U.S. shelters and rescues. Currently over 200 shelters and rescue groups are using Shelter Exchange. Shelters list animals in their care that they would like rescued by rescue organizations. Rescues can use Shelter Exchange to search for shelter animals on a map, and narrow their search by breed, gender, special needs, and if a pet’s Euthanasia date is in 14 days or less.

Since Adopt-a-Pet.com is designed for pets who are available for adoption, we think the Shelter Exchange tool could help shelters get the word out about their rescue-only pets, and pets that might be “less adoptable” by the general public. And if you choose to use their software to manage all of your pet data, you can use their AutoUploading feature to upload your pets directly to your Adopt-a-Pet.com account.

Need Food Donations? Purina Pets For People May Be Able To Help!
Purina’s support of animal welfare takes the form of Animal Welfare Support programs for U.S. non-profit organizations, described in detail on www.PetsforPeople.com. Their programs such as; Pets for Seniors, Pro Plan® Rally to Rescue® and the Purina ONE® Pet Welfare Program are dedicated to providing support for local animal welfare organizations in their efforts to find homes for adoptable animals.

Occasionally the Nestlé Purina PetCare Company may have food donations available in your area. When you register your organization on www.PetsforPeople.com you will be automatically considered for any food donations that become available near you. During 2010, Purina donated more than $13 million in pet food and litter. In addition, should your organization be affected by a natural disaster, Purina may be able to provide food to help feed your organization’s animals during your time of need.

And, of course…
As always, we thank the wonderful, pet-loving people at Purina and Bayer Animal Health for supporting all of usin our mission and making Adopt-a-Pet.com a free service!
