To all our Adopt-a-Pet.com shelter and rescue friends, a note from Abbie:
Hi, friends. I hope you’re staying safe and healthy. It’s crazy how different the world feels today than it did even a few weeks ago, isn’t it? I know this is an incredibly stressful time for everyone, but there’s a whole additional dimension for those of us who take responsibility for the health and safety of others. That includes parents, caregivers of elderly parents, and it certainly includes you. Some of you have many hundreds of animals in your care. You take responsibility for all of the lost and abandoned animals in your community. You are responsible for helping animals leave your shelters through the front door, and fast enough to make room for the constant stream of animals coming in to replace them. I cannot possibly express the gratitude and respect I have for each one of you.
It’s still early in this crisis, and it may be too soon to really know how COVID-19 will affect the animals in our communities. My hope is that people will step up to adopt and foster, and that relinquishments will slow down during this time, but we all know that there’s a strong possibility that that opposite will happen as time goes on and more people are affected by the economic impact of this virus.
For now, I want you to know that we see you. We’re thinking of you and the animals in your care, day and night. And we will be on the lookout for ways to help ease the burden.
To that end, if you have a minute, please fill out this survey and let us know your shelter’s current status and what your immediate needs are. We’d love to understand what kinds of help are most needed so we can enlist the community, and perhaps our partners, to help. And, of course, anything that we can do we WILL do.
Let’s stay in close touch. We’re all in this together.
With deep respect and tremendous affection,
Chief Operating Officer/Chief Product Officer
