Add Hurricane pets who need fosters

After hearing from shelters and rescues affected by Hurricane Harvey, Adopt-a-Pet.com launched FosteraHurricanePet.org to help pets in Texas, Louisiana, and Puerto Rico in need of temporary foster care due to the hurricanes. Any shelter, rescue, or pet owner in those three areas can upload a pet quickly and easily for free at FosteraHurricanePet.org and interested fosters can then contact you directly to help. If you have any questions or feedback about this brand-new emergency foster-connection service, please let us know at helpdesk@adoptapet.com. Upload pets who need fosters at https://fosterahurricanepet.org

Toolkit: Easy Ways to Refer Surrendering Owners to Rehome

We’ve heard great feedback from our friends in animal welfare about Rehome by Adopt-a-Pet.com and the Petco Foundation and we thank you for sharing your insights. Many of you asked us to provide tools to help you refer relinquishing owners into the Rehome program as an alternative to surrendering pets to your shelter or rescue. We have great news! We now have digital tools available for you to refer owners to Rehome. Check out the Rehome tool kit. Inside you’ll find posters you can download and hang on your intake room walls, flyers you can print off and hand out to surrendering owners who walk in the door, and digital banners you can copy and paste right into your website so owners who find you on the web can easily be referred into the system. The digital banners even have tracking codes on them so we can automatically track referrals that come from your shelter – making it even easier to ensure your organization collects the adoption fees that come from your referrals.

Pet page design upgrade rolling out now!

More exciting news! You may recall a few months ago we announce that our designers and engineers have been hard at work on improvements to our website’s design and technology. A big and exciting project! We are continuing to gradually roll out the updates, and the next page to get an upgrade is your pet pages – sneak peek in the screenshot above and below! At first glance, you might not notice the changes, as most of them are behind the scenes. Some of the really awesome upgrades is the fonts are bigger, making it easier for people to read what you’ve written about your pets! On Friday, Sept 1st the new design started to be visible to a small portion of our site visitors. Once we gather information and make any needed refinements, we’ll make the improved version of the pet pages available to everyone. The new pet page design, just like the new shelter search results and shelter info pages that rolled out earlier this year, will be faster and easier to use on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices too.

See the checkmarks and exclamation points above? That’s one of the “biggest” small but helpful changes to the page design! Now those easy-to-understand graphic bullet points replace the “good with” or “not” text to better highlight those pet details. These were previously formatted in a sentence. Your behind the scenes options remain the same yes, no, or blank aka unknown that you’ve been using all along. If you have any questions or feedback, let us know at helpdesk@adoptapet.com.

Congrats to the lucky survey winners!

We are so grateful to all of you who kindly shared some of your valuable time and insights in taking our Volunteer Feature Survey. The three lucky winners of the $100 Petco gift cards are: Texas Mini Aussie Rescue of Mesquite, TX, Life for Pets of Winchester, KY, and White River Humane Society of Bedford, IN. Though the gift card drawing is over, if you missed filling out the survey, you are still welcome to participate at https://www.research.net/r/FG3RJS8 too! We will be having more surveys in the future too, as you help us learn what challenges you face and how we can use our Adopt-a-Pet.com technology to better help you and homeless pets.

Purina Provides Aid To Pets With Hurricane Relief Efforts

Our hearts go out to the people and pets affected by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. Our friends at Purina have made great efforts to support those impacted by the storms. Purina worked with Rescue Bank to deliver pet food & supplies to pet shelters in the affected areas and donated to their non-profit disaster relief partner, GreaterGood.org, to provide support for rescue efforts. Their aid has provided more than 250,000 pounds of product to shelters through Rescue Bank and $50,000 in donations. Please share in their #passionforpets and their families by also considering a donation – 100 percent of your tax deductible donation will go to help victims of Hurricane Harvey.
