Free photos for shelter & rescue social media
We know how time-consuming it can be finding shelter and rescue-appropriate images of pets to use on your social media sites like Facebook and Instagram, so we assembled this collection for you! All fourteen of these photos were taken by Adopt-a-Pet.com’s Director of Shelter Programs of shelter and rescue pets. They are 100% free for you to use on your shelter or rescue’s social media accounts. You are welcome to add your shelter’s logo or name or other text to the image too! You’ll find the free photos here: http://shelterblog.adoptapet.com/2016/12/free-pet-photos-for-shelter-rescue-social-media/

Tip: Choose one or two dog breeds
We recently added three new “Mixed Breed” choices to your Adopt-a-Pet.com admin area “Add Dog” breed dropdown list. It is always best for you to choose an actual breed — even a wild guess(!) — because 63% of dog searchers choose a breed and pets without a specific breed listed won’t show up at the top of those searches. But we added “Mixed Breed” as a breed choice because certain shelter softwares have that as a choice for their users, and if we didn’t add it, those pets couldn’t get into our system at all. So please remember, knowledge is power: Choose a breed (or two!) that most closely matches your mix breed dogs (and leave the “Purebred” option set to “No”) to get your marvelous mutts seen by the most potential adopters possible!

Pinterest analytics for shelters and rescues
Our friends at Maddie’s Fund are always creating and providing such helpful educational materials, from videos to articles, and this insightful blog article from them is no exception. Who knew that Pinterest even offered analytics much less how to use it , as the article says, ” to make sure you’re getting results that will make your time on the site worthwhile for your organization and for the animals.” The article offers an overview and links to Pinterest’s own comprehensive guide and their how-to video too! Read it here: Maddie’s Fund article on Pinterest

From our friends at Bayer…
