Free pet photos for shelter & rescue social media

Posted by Jennifer on December 5th, 2016

We know how time-consuming it can be finding shelter and rescue-appropriate images of pets to use on your social media sites like Facebook and Instagram, so we assembled this collection for you! All dozen of these photos were taken by Adopt-a-Pet.com’s Director of Shelter Programs of shelter and rescue pets. They are 100% free for you to use on your shelter or rescue’s social media accounts! We do ask that you keep the messaging positive, promoting pet adoption or your organization. If you’d like to give Adopt-a-Pet.com credit with a link, that’s awesome and we’d appreciate it, but it’s not required.

You are welcome to add your shelter’s logo or name or other text to the image, that’s why we selected many of these photos as they have background space to make that easy for you to do. There are lots of great free photo editing apps and programs available online, but if you don’t have a favorite yet, you can try the free and easy flash-based (so desktop computer needed) www.photoshop.com/tools which has many of the great features of their paid software, plus a fun “decorate” tab that lets you add text, pawprints, and frames too.

We hope these free pet photos help you. That’s our mission and passion at Adopt-a-Pet.com, helping shelters and rescues help homeless pets! If you’re a photographer and would like to freely share photos you own with shelters and rescues here, send blog@adoptapet.com a link to your online album. Thank you!

INSTRUCTIONS: Click on a thumbnail to view full size image. Then right click or File > “Save image as” to save the JPG to your computer or phone. You can upload the JPG file from your computer/device to your social media account.
