The dog days of August are here, and we know that means fewer adopters for many of you, though our website traffic and potential adopter inquiries continue to grow. If you don’t have all your pets listed on your account yet, now is a great time to get them posted! If you do, have you tried some of our tips for getting your pets clicked on even more? As always, if you have any questions or feedback, please email me and Laurie at helpdesk@adoptapet.com - we’re here to help you!

Congratulations to the grant recipients for July!

Our grant committee read all of your amazing applications, and give each and every one of you a standing ovation. Wow! We wish we could give grants to help all of you in the incredible pet-saving work that you do with compassion and such dedication! So many hurt and sick animals who have been lucky enough to find their way into your organization and get the care they need and deserve. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you for all that you do! The Adopt-a-Pet.com Veterinary Care Fund is giving away three grants for the July round of applications for immediate veterinary needs. The three recipients are: $1,000 to Crosswinds Equine Rescue in Illinois, $500 to the Dutchess County SPCA in New York, and $500 to ADORE Houston in Texas.

If your application was not selected, there are still two more chances this year! See below for details.

Animal Rescue Aid pet beds and Kong toys

Animal Rescue Aid is a nonprofit who’s goal is to make it possible for every shelter dog and cat in the USA to have a pet bed while they wait for adoption. In addition, the KONG Company is donating a KONG toy with every pet bed they ship! Their medium and large pet beds are $22.50 each (includes delivery) in the contiguous USA. They also offer their National Pet Crate Donation Program where your supporters can donate or “chip in” on a crate for you. Find out more at www.animalrescueaid.org

Found Animals Microchips

The Found Animals Registry was built for one reason: all lost pets deserves to find their way home. As a nonprofit organization, they offer low-cost microchips and 100% free registration in support of that vision. Email Found Animals at microchipsales@found.org to learn more.

Purina continues to help homeless dogs and cats

Our friends at Purina® continue to help remove barriers to adoption by changing perceptions of shelter pets!  One way that Purina supports shelters is through partnerships with Shelter-Me Photography and the Shelter Arts Foundation.  These organizations are dedicated to training shelter staff and volunteers to get the very best photo of every pet that is available for adoption.  You can learn more about this effort at www.meettherealme.org.
