The Adopt-a-Pet.com Happy Beginnings Fund distributed five $1,000 grants in 2013 for a grand total of $5,000. The grants were to reward innovation and help build successful adoption programs. If you are a shelter or rescue and had, or were planning, a really inspired adoption program, or you had specific costs related to making sure your adoptions are successful (like providing adoption kits or obedience classes), we wanted to hear from you!

When the program was open, here was how to apply:

  • Please only submit one application per shelter/rescue account.
  • Your must have an approved & active Adopt-a-Pet.com shelter or rescue account to be eligible for a grant. An approved account is one that was approved after signing up – you know you were approved if you received your approval email, and pets you’ve listed are visible to the public. An active account has, within the last 60 days, either logged in and viewed, added, or edited a pet listing; or added/edited a pet via uploading software. Not sure? You can view your pet list here.
  • Don’t have an an account yet? No problem! You can easily sign up for an Adopt-a-Pet.com shelter account here, and come back to this page to apply after you get your approval email.

THE FUND IS NOW CLOSED. If your shelter or rescue is chosen to receive a grant, you will hear from us by August 1, 2013! See the grant recipients here.

Thank you to all shelters and rescues who submit their wonderful stories and photos! We are so moved by the amazing efforts rescues and shelters make every day helping abandoned pets go from homeless to adopted.
