2012 Grant Recipient #16: Dreamchaser PMU Horse Rescue & Rehabilitation Inc.

Posted by Jennifer on October 3rd, 2012

Congratulations to Dreamchaser PMU Horse Rescue & Rehabilitation Inc. the 16th $1,000 grant recipient from the 2012 Adopt-a-Pet.com $20,000 Veterinary Care Fund! We are so moved by the amazing lengths rescues and shelters go to give homeless pets a chance at getting healthy so they can be adopted – and think you will be too! We’re sharing the recipients’ stories here on our Shelter Blog. Here’s how a this grant will change the life of a pet or pets in their care:

A grant of $1000 would pay for the castration of Julius, a one year old Pony of the Americas who came to us from a defunct rescue.  His mother is also with us.  He and his mother have had no quality care, and both need to have their teeth floated so that they do not develop sores in their mouths, and so they utilize their food completely.  This grant would also be used for their teeth, and for appropriate hoof trimming.  These two ponies would then be available for adoption into a qualified home! Here Mindy and Julius now.

We also got two seized mini-horses brought to us last Wednesday with projectile diarrhea, emaciation, and hooves that hadn’t been tended in over 5 years.  We are helping her fight for her life. Thank you for helping us help them!
