Here is a very happy update from Animal Advocates of Moore County! In 2011, they were the recipient of the 19th grant from our Purina Veterinary Diets® Adopt-a-Pet.com $50,000 Veterinary Care Fund. Their original grant application is below with the pets’ photos,  stories, and above that, the happy update!

Update 6/21/12:

Jennifer this is Tiny Toto all grown up now, one year later. This picture was taken by his new family in April of 2012. He sure filled out didn’t he? His owner Marilyn loves him.

Below is a photo of Tiny Toto before, he was a tornado survivor:

Animal Advocates of Moore County
Aberdeen, North Carolina

Animal Advocates of Moore County rescued dogs and cats from Sanford, Lee County when a tornado came through the area destroying 6,600 homes. The organization has taken in these lost animals, identified them by their collars and rabies tag if they had one, and then rushed them to our local vet hospital. Many suffered from dehydration, needed sutures and some had broken legs and small wounds. We have located most of the owners and have agreed to care for their dogs and cats until they are back in their new homes. Our veterinary bills have been astronomical for a small charity. However as Animal Advocates we felt it was our obligation to help the dogs and cats of Lee County. Most of the big US organizations like the Humane Society and ASPCA went to metropolitan cities such as Raleigh to help locate lost pets.

A $2000.00 grant to us would be a miracle and would help assist us with the present tornado victims in our care. I will be uploading pictures for your records.

Thank you and Bless you. We wait with hope.
