More Veterinary Grants Coming Soon!
Great news for shelters & rescues that need help with veterinary care costs! We are gearing up to re-open the Purina Veterinary Diets Adopt-a-Pet.com Veterinary Care Fund! For each new “Like” we receive on our Facebook page between now and May 31st, 25¢ will be added (up to a total of $20,000) to the Purina Veterinary Diets® Adopt-a-Pet.com Veterinary Care Fund, which gives grants to animal shelters and rescue organizations – like yours – to offset the veterinary costs of pets in your care. The grants will be $1,000 each, so we’ll have up to 20 grants to help you give pets in your care the veterinary care they need.

The Purina Veterinary Diets® Adopt-a-Pet.com Veterinary Care Fund was established in 2011 with an initial donation of $50,000 from Purina Veterinary Diets®.

If you sent in a grant submission last time, IT IS STILL VALID – you do NOT need to send in a submission again. If you have not yet applied, next month (June 8th) we will reopen the submission page with how to do so, and we will include a link to that here. You can help us reach our goal of $20,000 by spreading the word of this life-saving campaign and encouraging others to participate. Email your contacts and suggest they “Like” Adopt-a-Pet.com on Facebook.

ADOPT gear back in stock
There was so much interest in the past OBEY “Adopt A Pet” Awareness project that OBEY brought it back! Products including tee shirts, dog leashes, and tote bags are now available directly online from OBEY Clothing. Combining grassroots outreach with old-school mainstream marketing, Adopt-a-Pet.com spreads the message about the importance of pet adoption in a variety of ways — including the ADOPT project with Shepard Fairey. OBEY Clothing donates all of the profits from the sale of all Adopt A Pet product.

As always, you can download the ADOPT image for free here! 8×10, 11×17 and 15×23 sizes available. They are not for reproducing on items for sale, but are perfect for printing a poster to hang on your wall.

Need Food Donations? Purina Pets For People May Be Able To Help!

Purina’s support of animal welfare takes the form of Animal Welfare Support programs for non-profit organizations, described in detail on www.PetsforPeople.com. Their programs such as Pets for Seniors, Pro Plan® Rally to Rescue® and the Purina ONE® PetWelfare Program are dedicated to providing support for local animal welfare organizations in their efforts to find homes for adoptable animals.

Occasionally the Nestlé Purina PetCare Company may have food donations available in your area. When you register your organization on www.PetsforPeople.com you will be automatically considered for any food donations that become available near you. During 2010, Purina donated more than $13 million in pet food and litter. In addition, should your organization be affected by a natural disaster, Purina may be able to provide food to help feed your organization’s animals during your time of need.

And, of course…
As always, we thank the wonderful, pet-loving people at Purina and Bayer Animal Health for supporting all of us in our mission and making Adopt-a-Pet.com a free service!

That’s all our news for this month. We’d love to hear what’s going on with you too, so please stop by our pages on Facebook and Twitter and say a virtual hello! We’d love to hear from you!
