New Facebook Application giving more exposure to your pets!
Share a Pic, Save a Pet, created by non-profit PetSmart Charities and powered by Adopt-a-Pet.com, is a unique Facebook application designed to drive public awareness and increase adoptions of the nearly 8 million homeless pets in the United States. Share a Pic, Save a Pet transforms users’ Facebook profiles into social billboards for homeless pets, allowing them to alert their friends, family and followers about adoptable pets in their own community that need lifelong, loving homes. Specifically, Facebook users ‘donate’ their profile to save pets in the community, showcasing local pets’ pictures and information about local shelters or rescue organizations where they can be adopted. This first-of-its-kind application gives pet-lovers a way to help save pets, even if they aren’t able to adopt. You don’t have to do anything to have your adoptable pets appear in the application – they are already there! You just need to keep list ingthem on your Adopt-a-Pet.com account and don’t uncheck the Share a Pic, Save a Pet partner checkbox.

Bayer Animal Health Needs You to Help Lost Pets!
Millions of pets are lost every year, and due to lack of proper identification, are never returned back home. We know you work so tirelessly for the lost and found pets that come into your shelter, and that’s why we’re very proud to tell you about the Lost Pet Alert Network. It’s about a community designed to help reunite lost pets with their families, it’s a group forged together to help find more great homes for animals in need, and it’s a system created to support your hard work.
Created by Bayer’s resQ® microchip, the Lost Pet Alert Network is free for all pet owners. It has many supportive features, and one of our favorites is that it sends out online lost pet alerts to clinics, shelters, registered pet lovers and social media whenever a pet goes missing. At your shelter, these alerts can be cross referenced to help many more lost pets find their loving families. Bayer’s resQ® brand is about creating awareness on proper pet identification as well as promoting pet adoption. It’s a powerful tool for helping lost animals get back to their families, and for keeping adopted pets in happy homes. We want to thank you for the great work you do, and we are here for you, as you help homeless animals. Please register today so that you can be a part of this community. Together we can help more lost pets go home – and stay there.
Need Food Donations? Purina Pets For People May Be Able To Help!
Purina’s support of animal welfare takes the form of Animal Welfare Support programs for non-profit organizations, described in detail on www.PetsforPeople.com Their programs such as; Pets for Seniors, Pro Plan® Rally to Rescue® and the Purina ONE® PetWelfare Program are dedicated to providing support for local animal welfare organizations in their efforts to find homes for adoptable animals.
Occasionally the Nestlé Purina PetCare Company may have food donations available in your area. When you register your organization on www.PetsforPeople.com you will be automatically considered for any food donations that become available near you. During 2010, Purina donated more than $13 million in pet food and litter. In addition, should your organization be affected by a natural disaster, Purina may be able to provide food to help feed your organization’s animals during your time of need.
And, of course… As always, we thank the wonderful, pet-loving people at Purina and Bayer Animal Health for supporting all of us in our mission and making Adopt-a-Pet.com a free service!
