You Asked For It; You Got It: Save Up To Five Pet-Description Templates Per Species!
We’re excited to announce a brand-new feature to help you save time when you’re posting your pets. Do you use the same text in the description field for many of your pet listings, like contact information for different foster homes or a link to your application? Great news: now you can save pet-description templates and automatically insert that text into the pet-description field when you’re adding pets. You can save up to five templates per type of pet! We know this new feature is going to make a lot of you very happy.

You can add and edit templates in two different ways: If you want to set up your templates in advance, select “Pet Description Templates” from the “Pet Lists” pull-down menu (or go here). Use the tabs to select the type of pet you want to add templates for, and click “Create new template”. Or, even easier, you can create and edit templates on the fly, right from the “add new pet” page. On that form, right above the place where you normally type in the pet’s story, you’ll see new tools that will let you create, select, and edit templates.

We’d love to hear your feedback about this new feature! Email us and let us know what you think.

America’s Favorite Animal Shelter contest
It’s almost over – have your supporters voted for you and left comments for all to see? This year’s America’s Favorite Animal Shelter contest, hosted by Care2 and promoting your pets for adoption on Adopt-a-Pet.com, will end on at midnight July 10th. You still have 3 days to ask your supporters to go right here to vote for you and leave their nice remarks about the work you’re doing! The contest pages and comments will remain live on the Care2 site until next year’s contest.

America’s Favorite Animal Shelter contest winners are determined by the number of votes. Grand Prize is $15,000, Second Prize is $7,000, Third Prize is $3,000, and there’s a weekly Random Prize of $500. We know how much these funds will help save more lives and we appreciate Care2′s help in promoting pet adoption. When you spread the word to your supporters to vote for you, let them know that the top 20 vote recruiters will get a $50 gift card each so they could win something, too!

Sing it from the mountain tops: “Vote for our shelter, vote for the work we do, vote for the animals who need us!” http://www.care2.com/animalsheltercontest/

Need Food Donations? Purina Pets For People May Be Able To Help!!
Purina’s support of animal welfare takes the form of Animal Welfare Support programs for non-profit organizations, described in detail on www.PetsforPeople.com. Their programs such as; Pets for Seniors, Pro Plan® Rally to Rescue® and the Purina ONE® Pet Welfare Program are dedicated to providing support for local animal welfare organizations in their efforts to find homes for adoptable animals.

Occasionally the Nestlé Purina PetCare Company may have food donations available in your area. When you register your organization on www.PetsforPeople.com you will be automatically considered for any food donations that become available near you. During 2010, Purina donated more than $13 million in pet food and litter. In addition, should your organization be affected by a natural disaster, Purina may be able to provide food to help feed your organization’s animals during your time of need.
