Grant Submission: Noah’s Ark Animal Welfare Association

Posted by Jennifer on June 15th, 2011

We’ve received so many wonderful submissions for the the Purina Veterinary Diets® Adopt-a-Pet.com $50,000 Veterinary Care Fund! We were so moved by the amazing lengths rescues and shelters go to give homeless pets a chance at getting healthy so they can be adopted – and thought you would be too! So we’re sharing some of the submissions, and all of the finalists’ and recipients’ stories here. Here’s how a $2,000 grant would (or, in the case of our recipients, WILL) change the life of a pet or pets in their care:

We have 2 dogs and 1 cat who could use some “above and beyond” health care and nurturing.

Houston is a 1 year old GS mix. We thought his right hind leg needed to be amputated, but after a visit to the vet, we found his leg had been broken near the hip joint. The vet thought he’d do well with some rest. Houston needs more vet care, including Xrays. He’d do well with some hydro or swim therapy, but we don’t have such equipment. A hydro therapy tub could really help him. See him at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_XIk_OI62A

Rosie Posie is middle aged for her breed, but she’s morbidly obese and lazy, all signs of hypothyroidism. She needs vet care and to go into foster care for diet control and exercise. Again, a dog sized swimming pool could help with her exercise regiment. You can see her at:

Scooter is a young Siamese mix. We think his malformed hind legs are a birth defect. He scoots around the floor like nobody’s business, but we’d like to get him a small animal wheel chair to help him explore at ground level more easily.

In addition, all these animals need our veterinary care, and the shelter could use an autoclave for the instruments we use.

Thank you for your consideration.
