We’ve received so many wonderful submissions for the the Purina Veterinary Diets® Adopt-a-Pet.com $50,000 Veterinary Care Fund! We were so moved by the amazing lengths rescues and shelters go to give homeless pets a chance at getting healthy so they can be adopted – and thought you would be too! So we’re sharing some of the submissions, and all of the finalists’ and recipients’ stories here. Here’s how a $2,000 grant would (or, in the case of our recipients, WILL) change the life of a pet or pets in their care:

The $2,000 grant would pay for Vet care and leg amputation for Jonah, a 5-6 year-old DMH orange cat who was shot by an unknown person with a 22 pistol. The bullet severed and shattered both bones in his right front leg. After over $350 in Vet care, the leg needs to be amputated at the shoulder. The grant would also pay for dentals for several of our small dogs and several of our geriatric cats who have bad teeth. We feed 80+ cats daily and get everyone of them spayed/neutered, tests, shots, and Vet care. The lady who sold us this property left 60+ cats on the property (all unspayed/unneutered) and most of the females were pregnant. We spent $2,000+ to get them all spayed or neutered through low-cost clinics. Sienna and several other older cats need dental care as soon as possible. We also need to spay/neuter 15 kittens who came to us from 4 local locations. Thank you.
